East West
Alison and Val have been involved in their chosen landscapes for the past year.
They both use layered colour to express their feeling for the landscape; supported by strong structure and a thoughtful, open brush or pen stroke.
They have a common sympathy with their surroundings and a delicate, almost dreamy approach; but informed by training, practise and a broader knowledge of other artistic approaches to the same theme.

She says; During my painting visits I am aiming to create a strong visual memory. I try to spend time in a place looking closely and observing. Sitting, looking and preparing leads to mixing and mark making through a tentative process of layering and recording. Sketching becomes painting. My paintings become almost abstract. I enjoy the movement and play of light and colour hoping I can take some control.
