An exhibition of the tempestuous art and music scene in the early ‘70s, with photographs by Richard Demarco and music posters by Andy Murray, showing how the early 1970s were a period of freedom and revolution in the Arts world and the importance of theatre and music in Britain at that time.
Richard Demarco is showing a number of key photographs of productions in Edinburgh, taken from the Richard Demarco Digital Archive and chosen by him. They show his commitment to European directors and artists, among them, Tadeusz Kantor and Joseph Beuys, who worked with him.
Andy Murray While a graphic design student at Leeds Polytechnic, had designed and curated the production of posters for weekly concerts by such bands as Fleetwood Mac, The Incredible String Band, The Strawbs and one of the only six shows performed by The Wailers in 1972. The posters were produced in a technically time consuming way - some screen printed. There are reproductions available.
Some of the posters can be seen in a video to celebrate the exhibition here:

Burnside gallery say: The impetus for the exhibition came from the visits to two archives of Richard Demarco and Andy Murray. The recognition by all of us, that these images were something special and should be shown to a wider audience.

Unframed posters can be bought online and sent to mainland Britain in postal tubes (the post and packing costs £6.00 tracked 24 Royal Mail).
All copyright of works of art remains with the artist
