Tuesday 21 September to Saturday 30 October 2021

James Hutcheson has enjoyed a long career as an illustrator and book designer. Amongst other activities, he was creative director at Birlinn Ltd and before that, art director for Canongate Books in Edinburgh. He continues to work for various publishers throughout the UK.
He says of one of his series; I remember reading the collection of Welsh stories "The Mabinogion". It had been referred to in Alan Garner's "The Owl Service” in 1969, and for one reason or another it has stayed with me all these years …
James is showing torn paper sculptures and pen and ink work.

David Faithfull is an artist, printmaker and curator. He exhibits internationally and has work in collections including Tate Britain, the V&A and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. He is showing works in ink; printed and drawn, books and artists’ books.
He says; Ink is central to my practice as an artist, printmaker and Artist Book maker. Whether following an ancient Oak Gall recipe, grinding up meteorites, moon rocks or mixing seaweed and squid ink, it is the basis of my work. I find using brush, nib or hand whittled Hebridean reeds, delivers a lyrical spontaneity and energy that commits the mark to the paper without undue consideration and deliberation.
