Carol Ritchie

Travel, in particular to the South Pacific, the Greek Islands and the Mediterranean, has inspired my work. Design in public spaces – for example, details like the shapes and designs of letter boxes, meter cupboards and electricity boxes with their connecting cables, all situated in a pattern on a wall – is influential in my work, as are the colours and designs of gardens in Britain and abroad.
I usually work with acrylic paint on canvas, often using mixed media, including collaged elements. I use photographs, drawings or memories as a starting point and often work intuitively.
