Stillness

Stillness

Wednesday 22 June – Saturday 30 July 2022

Two abstract painters who share a common language in their feeling for earth and water, from the Scottish islands and Greece.

Carol Ritchie lives in Edinburgh and was trained at Edinburgh College of Art and the Ecole National Superieure des Arts Decoratifs in Strasburg.
She says My aim is to make work that creates a restorative experience for the viewer. Illumination and light appear as a recurrent theme, especially in relation to the blue and turquoise colours of a therapeutically calm sea.

Alan Richmond, an artist who works out of WASPs in Selkirk, is self taught and says In this series produced during the last two years of lockdowns I unconsciously ended up with work that I found reflected a desire that many of us felt or wanted to feel including the feeling of a slower, quieter, less complicated world, and a reconnecting with nature.
